Bab el Oued city Réalisation De Merzak Allouache - Algérie - 1994 - 1h33min Acteurs Avec Hassan Abdou, Nadia Kaci, Mohamed Ourdache, Messaoud Hattou, Mabrouk Aït Amara, Nadia Samir Pitch A Bab El-Oued, quartier populaire d'Alger, au lendemain des émeutes sanglantes d'Octobre 1988, Boualem, jeune ouvrier mitron, travaille dur la nuit et dort le jour. Autant mettre le feu aux poudres... Une comédie politique présentée en sélection officielle du Festival de Cannes 1994 dans la section Un Certain regard et qui ya obtenu le Prix de la critique internationale. Egalement Prix du meilleur film 2ème Biennale des Cinémas arabes à Paris en 1994. Hélas, la caravane est attaquée en chemin par les Indiens, et tous les adultes de Big-City partent pour la défendre. Au matin, les enfants de Big City se réveillent orphelins, avec pour seule compagnie adulte un vieil alcoolique et le débile du village. A partir de ce jour, le débile devient shérif, le vieil alcoolique juge de paix, et Big City se dote d'un maire enfant, d'un barman enfant, d'une entraîneuse enfant, d'un épicier enfant, d'un menuisier/croque mort enfant... chaque enfant reprenant la place occupée par ses parents. Mais les enfants indiens ne vont pas tarder à montrer le bout de leur nez... Big embrouilles à Big City !

The City on Film: "Come On Eileen"

I realized sometime during the evening that the top of the Friday night bill was kind of an awesome throwback to the days when emo wasn't something you could buy in bulk at the mall. Ten years ago, Nanna was with Braid, Maritime's Davey von Bohlen was with his pioneering previous band, the Promise Ring, and Rainer Maria was Rainer Maria (except in Madison instead of New York). All of them were heavy hitters in a scene that didn't know what to do with heavy hitters. Now, all of them never quite made it, while Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab do body shots off the cast of The OC. And yet, they keep on truckin', playing free shows in campus cafeterias for whoever will show up. Nanna closed with this sweet, fanciful reading of a true classic in the late history of pop. He's touring a lot these days, so check him out if he comes to your town.
