| My cousin Steve Driving the 1256, Retrofitted with this quality 18hp briggs 2 cylinder, off of a shitty/free craftsman. and a pushmower's metal gas tank held on somewhat by one bolt, and sitting on top of the left hand spark plug. its held to the tractor with one bolt that threads into the aluminum block. instead of the 4 it should have. it has one drive belt on it, instead of two, the seat has completely rusted off of the tractor, it just sits there. the engine oil is way below the safe zone on the dip stick. the hydrostatic fluid level is well below the add mark. one of the back tires is flat, and both front ones are as well. there are only 3 of the 4 bolts that hold on the cast iron front end. (which is better then the two i had the other day, which lead to the bolts breaking off...) the belt rubs on stuff. the starter is bad on this tractor, so we have to start it using a wheel horse's PTO pully, and a long belt, running to the pully on the front of the engine. then, you simply push the wheelhorse backwards, which applys tension to the belt, and wha-lah! vicious 2 cylinder beast roars to life. Also, the carburator is off of a 16 hp twin cylinder. so, that might give it less power, i'm not sure. But all of this is still better then earlier today when i jokinglee tried to go up this high steep hill, expecting to throw it in neutral, and roll backwards in reverse, once the wheels started spinning. of course forgetting that bolens are serious about their anti ... |
