Faith Revisited

The history of Indian civilisation is a living testimony of people's interdependency on nature. Oral traditions, scriptures, literature and legends celebrate this harmonious co-existence. The film explores how a deep realisation by those who lived in forests over centuries, that human survival was dependent on the environment, evolved into sacred religious practices that sought to conserve it. Rituals of animal and plant worship have a deeply embedded scientific rationale. Conservationists today are acknowledging the sway that these rituals hold over people's lives and using them creatively in environmental interventions. A historical awareness of these systems of thought can usher in innovative ways of environment conservation.

As an interactive installation, it is at core a fully functioning and self-sustained hydroponic/aquaponic system and aquarium ecosystem that includes the viewer in its ecological cycle. 1. Aquarium fish, shrimp, snails, microorganisms , etc compost kitchen scraps. 2. Hanging hydroponic garden is fed by waste byproducts from the aquarium. 3. As new produce grows, the aquarium water is filtered.

The Declaration of Interdependence: A David Suzuki Foundation Thought Bubble

The Declaration of Interdependence was written by David Suzuki, Tara Cullis, Raffi Cavoukian, Wade Davis and Guujaaw back in 1992 for the United Nations' Earth Summit. It was published last year, accompanied with traditional Haida style art by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas. As a spirited call to action and "pledge to Planet Earth", we created this video to show just how relevant this text still is today. We're thrilled to have David Suzuki and his wife Tara Cullis, two of the foremost leaders of the environmental movement featured in this very special Thought Bubble. Naturenomics - Launch of Books Compiled by Ranjit Barthakur - 1

Through the ages we have used nature's capital to surge economic growth. This use, overuse, and misuse of nature have eventually put both of us; the consumers and the resources on the verge of destruction. We have paid a very high price for the phenomenal economic growth and now are in danger of derailing the same growth if we do not manage our natural assets in a more effective and sustainable manner. With this imperative in mind, Balipara Tract and Frontier Foundation, a not for profit NGO has been instituted with the mandate of Facilitating and Driving community level involvement and employment / income generation through social entrepreneurship in Naturenomics initiatives that are economically self sustaining. Through this, Balipara Foundation will nurture interdependence between nature and economics. Balipara Tract and Frontier Foundation supported by Globally Managed Services launched the books NaturenomicsTM 2.0 & 3.0 in the presence of Chief Minister of Assam, Shashi Tharoor and Assams minister of Science Technology Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The book launch was held in Hotel Pragati Manor, Guwahati, Assam on 10th April, 2010.
