Now, the diary is finally being returned to its author, a 96 year old Italian, Alberto Toni. Alberto lost his diary in 1941, while stationed with the Italian army in North Africa. It came into the hands of Joseph Miller, serving with the Allied forces, who took it home to New Zealand at the end of the war.
