HOW TO: STOP OILY SKIN!!!!

Oily skin - the bane of my life for most of my childhood up until i was about 30. Dealing with oily skin can be tricky but it can be controlled. I know people don't always agree but stopping overloading the skin with excess moisturisers can go a long way to stopping this. Oily skin has its own moisture - and lots of it - so adding more isn't necessary. If you want to moisturise your skin - use serums as these are less emollient. Milk of magnesium is great for controlling oily skin. Worn as a face mask, rinsed off - can stop oily skin for hours and hours and hours. For VERY oily skin it can be left on, then foundation applied over. BE WARNED - milk of magnesium can be drying - so you don't want to go too far with this - let you skin be your guide. I found that many dermatologist also recommend milk of magnesium for controlling oily skin :) And lots of shine control products also have this in the ingredient list. :) Wayne

Many times, oily skin is an adverse effect of using products that over-dry skin, irritate skin, or the result of over cleansing skin. You cannot change the amount of oil that your body naturally produces, but you can prevent your body from producing excess oil. I recommend using a gentle, WATER-SOLUBLE cleanser 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once at night. Many people, including myself have had luck with brands like cetaphil and purpose (by J&J), but my FAVORITE cleanser is by Clean & Clear called "Foaming Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin" Also, try using an oil-free moisturizer, in this video I recommend Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Moisture Gel, which does an excellent job of moisturizing while creating a smooth, matte finish. However, there are many great moisturizers on the market that are oil-free and contain beneficial ingredients. Finally, I also recommend trying oil Make Up For Ever HD Microfinishing Powder. This is a pure white silica power that can be used on any shade of skin. You can find this at sephora, for $15 for a small size or $30 for a large. This stuff is AWESOME!
