United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the #OWS movement. US Marine surprises his sister at graduation

Our son, recently home from Afghanistan, surprises his sister during the graduation ceremony at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She was extremely disappointed when we told her he would not be back until the end of the month. Guess we lied a little. Ok, a lot. A special thanks to all at Cal Poly who made this possible. Enjoy.

Marine faces enemy in hand-to-hand combat, receives Navy Cross

Sgt. Clifford Wooldridge was leading a counterattack against insurgents in Afghanistan when shooting turned to hand-to-hand combat. Lance Cpl. Lauren Kurkimilis takes us to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California, where he was recently awarded the Navy Cross for his heroic actions.

US Marines and Sailors in Afghanistan with Combat Logistics Battalion 1 participated in a ground-fighting tournament. The tournament included four weight classes: 164 pounds and below, 165-179 pounds, 180-199 pounds and 200 pounds and above. The tournament was one of several sporting events held by CLB-1 to boost morale and encourage friendly competition between its companies during their seven month deployment to southern Helmand province. Eighteen-year-old, Robert Dones, of Hicksville, NY has dreamed of becoming a Marine since he was 10 years old and had the opportunity to come in with the Parade of Ships aboard USS Wasp, May 23, during Fleet Week New York 2012. Several potential Marines and sailors got the chance, allowing them to get a glimpse of their perspective service before they ship to their basic training.
