| This social menace can only be found in Malaysia and Putera Umno chief Datuk Abdul Azeez must be given credit for legitimizing them in the early days classifying them as Mat Cemerlang .Then Putera Umno wants to turn Mat Rempit and their races into a tourist attraction. He justified their existence thus: "Not all Mat Rempits are a menace to society. Mat Rempits have a bad reputation because of bad apples among them." He believed that Mat Rempits if harnessed, they could be an asset to Putera Umno. And even KJ at one time suggested to recruit these kamikaze Mat Rempits as Umno youth members. Can we imagine in the next GE, they can be rounded up to form convoys of supporters ferrying young voters to the polling stations?
