| Improved/updated version here: www.youtube.com This is an AMT/ERTL Enterprise D Fiber Optics model kit made in the 90's, used and modded to be LED lit. Towards the end, I remove the large shuttle bay door to show the mod shuttle bay I built for it, but it doesn't show too well. That's what's going on there however. This is my first LED lit model, so the learning curve was fierce. All in all, I would estimate 400 hours on this. It's a lot, but all the ship windows are drilled out by hand, and all the aztec pattern on the ship hull is hand painted instead of decals. The aztec painting alone took so much time, I was able to play every Star Trek movie made in the background, while I worked, and still had some to do. Anyone looking to do one of these should be warned, it's a labor of love. The video isn't great, and I plan to do a better one soon. But, I hope you enjoy. |
