No more crappy animations. Star wars, GTA 4 and Indiana Jones will use this technology NaturalMotion, has been working for years to hone euphoria to accurately replicate real-world physics such as strength, weight, and momentum with in-game character models. Whereas before, all animations had to be pre-programmed, euphoria allows for reactions and behaviors to occur in real-time -- allowing models to react realistically to whatever situation might arise. To be clear, euphoria is not an AI program, it's an animation technology that allows for physically accurate behaviors. The AI is programmed by the developer.

The Vision of Next Gen

The Vision of NextGen This video, produced by the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO), shows what future air travel might look like. NextGen, or, the Next Generation Air Transportation System. NASA and its fellow members of the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) are creating NextGen by the year 2025 ("MMXXV") to manage increasing air traffic safely and efficiently while reducing its impact on the environment. This JPDO video shows a future aircraft with its wings blended into its body moving cleanly through the sky. It also shows future options for directing air traffic into and out of airports that are more customized to aircraft trajectories.

The Next Generation of Neural Networks

Google Tech Talks November, 29 2007 In the 1980's, new learning algorithms for neural networks promised to solve difficult classification tasks, like speech or object recognition, by learning many layers of non-linear features. The results were disappointing for two reasons: There was never enough labeled data to learn millions of complicated features and the learning was much too slow in deep neural networks with many layers of features. These problems can now be overcome by learning one layer of features at a time and by changing the goal of learning. Instead of trying to predict the labels, the learning algorithm tries to create a generative model that produces data which looks just like the unlabeled training data. These new neural networks outperform other machine learning methods when labeled data is scarce but unlabeled data is plentiful. An application to very fast document retrieval will be described. Speaker: Geoffrey Hinton Geoffrey Hinton received his BA in experimental psychology from Cambridge in 1970 and his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Edinburgh in 1978. He did postdoctoral work at Sussex University and the University of California San Diego and spent five years as a faculty member in the Computer Science department at Carnegie-Mellon University. He then became a fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research and moved to the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Next Generation Sequencing

What does the future hold for genome sequencing? The Human Genome Project was more or less completed in 2003. Current projects are underway to use that initial exploration to create more useful post-genomic tools for discovery. What tools will be used, and how do they compare to the previous generations of technology? This is a video that I've wanted to make for a long time. Apple announces next-gen Apple TV

Apple's Tim Cook and Eddy Cue show off the company's new Apple TV streaming video box. The new hardware has several updated features, including 1080-pixel resolution for movies and TV shows and a redesigned user interface. The box will be available on March 16 for $99.
