It was founded in 1958 and is the second oldest university in the state. Monash is a member of Australia's Group of Eight and the ASAIHL. In 2010, it was ranked 61st in the world by QS World University Rankings. Monash enrolls approximately 39000 undergraduate and 16000 graduate students from Australia and the world, making it the largest university in Australia. It also has more applicants than any university in the state of Victoria. Monash alumni include Indonesian Vice President Boediono, Australian Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Simon Crean; Woolworths Limited CEO, Michael Luscombe; and the longest serving (1996--2007) Treasurer of Australia, Peter Costello.
