READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST PLEASE. I am not responsible for anything that happens to your car if you try this. I actually do not recommend doing it but its nice to know. Many people seem to be getting the wrong idea for this video. I am NOT telling you to not to use your clutch. This video is just to show how to shift without the clutch if the time comes when you need to use this. If your clutch goes out you might need to use this. This technique is potentially hazardous to your car. So if youre going to post a comment about how bad it is and just use the clutch, please dont post a comment. Some people want to know how to do it and that it is possible. I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO DO THIS OR TO NEGLECT YOUR CLUTCH. I KNOW HOW TO SHIFT WITHOUT THE CLUTCH, IT DOES NOT MEAN I DO THIS WITH EVERY SHIFT I DO. IN FACT I HAVENT DONE THIS SINCE I MADE THE VIDEO. The car is a mini cooper S 2005 with the stock supercharger. Yes the audio is slightly off when i created the video but o well. The cameras i used were a vholdr contourHD 1080p for the rear camera, and 2 canon powershots for the tachometer and feet. This is kinda hard to learn and bad for your car when you mess up so practice at your own risk!

To complete this How-To you will need: A car with a manual transmission Patience Practice Step 1: Locate the clutch With the car off, locate the clutch, which is on the floor in front of the driver to the left of the brake pedal. The clutch must be pressed down when shifting gears. Using your left foot, practice depressing and releasing the clutch pedal. Step 2: Study the gears Study the gears. Manual cars can have up to six gears; a guide is usually on the head of the stick shift, which is the lever to your right. They are often in an "H" pattern, with neutral in the middle. Step 3: Locate reverse Learn how to put your car in reverse. This usually involves pressing down on the stick shift and moving it to the far left or right and then up or down. Consult the pattern on your stick. Step 4: Practice shifting With the car still off, press and hold the clutch down as you practice shifting through the gears of the car. Practice both shifting (or speeding up) and downshifting—lowering gears to slow down. Step 5 ...

UPDATE 2 Below... here's my video on autoblog: www.youtube.com UPDATE 1: by "perfect shift" in the title, i didn't intend for it to really mean a best-practice way to shift gears but, rather, to mimic the title of the thread i read about this technique from. this is a video i made after i read a thread on the forum i'm always on (forums.clubrsx.com). it's about shifting w/out using the clutch. yes, there really is less wear on the infamous synchros (a widely discussed topic in the comments section of this video) the closer you shift at the appropriate RPM for the gear you're switching to. UPDATE 2: i've turned off comments and ratings to this video. i'm pretty much tired of seeing the same comments recycled. besides, there are already over 1000 comments (after removing extraneous ones) and over half a million views. here are the categories the comments fell under and my responses to them: comment about "facepaint" -it's a mud mask used for exfoliating. i didn't bother to take it off before making the video, apparently. truckers do this -great. i learned something new after receiving this type of comment about 500 times. i'm gay -i'm not my car is gay -it's a matter of preference, homies ;) i tried it and it worked -awesome! you're messing up your tranny/synchros -i'll agree with this to a certain degree. you will mess up your transmission/synchros if you perform this "clutchless shifting" horribly (ie bad rev-matching) and repetitively. why don't you just use the clutch ...
