Dowd in the wonderful 1950 film Harvey, tells the story how he met the giant white rabbit or Pooka as the creature is known. www.imdb.com James Stewart was nominated for an academy award for the role and Josephine Hull won one for her role as his sister, Veta Louise Simmons. Before the movie was made the story was done as a play on Broadway and received a Pulitzer prize in drama in 1945. Jesse White plays Mr. Wilson, Peggy Dow is Miss Kelly the nurse and Dr. Sanderson is done by Charles Drake. The film was directed by Henry Koster.
