PicAxe How-to: Part 1

Show a few variations of PicAxe, the 08M, 18X and 28X1. I then demonstrate a simple LED flasher as a first program and then use a microswitch as an input to trigger some flashing LEDs.

EEVblog #45 - Arduino, PICAXE, and idiot assembler programmers

Dave checks out what all the fuss is about with the Arduino, contemplates the PICAXE, and cuts loose on die hard assembly language programmers. All with no more silly 10 minute youtube time limit. (Sorry about the mains hum again)

Survivor Bot 08M (PICAXE Tank Based Robot)

I give you "Survivor Bot 08M"... if your wondering about the name, well my sister (a full grown adult) picked the robot up and thew it across the room, smashing it on hard tiles. So you could say its had a bit of a rough development / early life :) This robot is as simple as they come, you don't even really need to know much about electronics at all - no special circuits, everything is connected to the picaxe starter kit/board... These are the components that you need: •1 x PICAXE 08M Starter Kit •1 x SRF05 Ultrasonic Range Finder (can only be connected to an ADC pinout on Picaxe 08m) •2 x Continuous Rotation Servo Motors •1 x Standard Servo Motor •1 x Tamiya Tank Tred and Wheel Set •Jumper pins, wires, prototype board, wood and screws •Some patience :) Ideally the servo's should be powered by their own power source, however I didn't have the components lying around the house to make one. I also manage to stop the continuous rotation servo's by telling the pins to go low (eg low 2,4). This means that the head can turn and get accurate distance measurements. After that I set the pins high (eg high 2,4). Most of my time was spent constucting the robot base, design, cutting, drilling, modifying the tank wheels, mounting of the servo's etc. The original design used a PBT plastic case/enclosure, however these plastic boxes are not "straight" they are all slightly trapezoid (why aren't boxes square anymore!?!?!?).

Towers of Hanoi Solved By Picaxe 08M Robot

This is the robot I built to solve the Towers of Hanoi puzzle . It is made of 3 RC servos , balsa wood , lite plywood , servo tape , hot glue , 2 plastic gears , and a paper clip . The control computer is a Radio Shack project board with a Picaxe 08M . The servos are powered directly by 4 AA batteries .Two 1N4001 diodes are used to drop the voltage to 4.8V for the Picaxe . The Picaxe program is adapted from a basic program in the book "Artificial Intelligence Projects For The Commodore 64" by Timothy J. O'Malley published in 1985 . It uses 235 of the 256 available bytes in the 08M . The servos for the rotation and elevation are 15 years old , weak , and jittery so the positioning is not as accurate as it should be . It is shown solving the puzzle with 4 disks which takes 15 moves . More information and the basic code can be found at letsmakerobots.com

Picaxe Autonomous Robot

Homemade roamer robot based on picaxe 28x. Uses SRF05 ultrasonic sensor for ranging. Roams the room, heads towards area where there's more space, randomly plays little tunes. Uses Picaxe 28x1 with L293D driver.

GCSE Electronic Products - PICAXE Programming Lesson 1

No one in my class knows how to program using PICAXE. So I made these videos. Download the editor here: www.rev-ed.co.uk It's a rather chunky file (50mb), so it could take some time.

PICAxe Overview and Programming with FT232RL

This video discusses the PICaxe, and how to program it with the standard FT232RL FTDI USB to Serial converer. Note: this is the onboard chip on the Arduino boards. You could actually use the RX TX pins on the Duemilanove to program the PICaxe. * PICAXE 20X2 www.sparkfun.com * The PICAXE cable www.sparkfun.com The USB to Serial Converter shown in the video www.sparkfun.com and www.sparkfun.com * The hex Inverter www.mouser.com www.kevindarrah.com
