Reenactment #17: Goodfellas

WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE. The Seventeenth of my Re-enactment Series. If there ever was a scene that is widely known in cinema, it's this one. In this scene from Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas, Joe Pesci's character is telling an amusing anecdote to his friends. Ray Liotta's character says he's funny, to which Pesci's character takes the wrong way... This is my first video in which I used my new GL-2, a very nice digital camera. The video quality's oustanding. This was hard because I had to overlap a lot of sounds, mainly me laughing as three other people. Happy New Year, you stutterin' pricks, you.

Reenactment #18: Jurassic Park

The Eighteenth of my Re-Enactment Series. The only reason I did this video: Jeff "Freaking" Goldblum. My friends and I sat up all night doing Jeff Goldblum impersonations, ending each sentence with "and, and, if... and, well, thereitis." I have a hunch that when he gets a script, he adds a comma after 90% of the words in all of his lines. "I'm just saying that, uh, uh, life, uh, finds, a way." I concentrated on Jeff Goldblum... my impersonation of the other four characters may not be up to par. I have A Few Good Men in my possession... maybe this week.

This is not the final routine, and definitely not a punishment! WHY THRILLER? What made me choose Michael Jackson's Thriller for the aerobics routine is that Michael Jackson was a convicted man to the eyes of those who hated him. He would have been in imprisoned had it not been for settlement arrangements, they would say. Still Michael Jackson's frailty as a human being makes him like one of us -- whether one is a prisoner or not. I saw in the lyrics and video of Thriller much of what jail culture is like. Because of the hideous conditions in jails, prisons are like tombs and inmates are like ghoulish creatures. The only difference is that dancers in the MJ Thriller video come with make-up and costumes. The Dancing Inmates come as themselves. People perceived to be evil. The message of the Thriller is a message for all of us. The funk of forty thousand years embedded in the cycle of sin and punishment is a legacy no mere mortal can resist or is capable of resisting. No prison wall can and will stop evil from lurking in the dark. No shackle can stop the beast about to strike. No punitive or brutal treatment is ever too strong to stop creatures crawling in search of blood. Unless we stop breeding demons in jails, gruesome ghouls from every tomb will seal ...

Reenactment #23: Full Metal Jacket [Request #3 of List #1]

WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE The 23rd of my Re-Enactment Series. A few things: 1. No, I did not lip sync, I simply added reverb to the dialogue. The audio is a bit off thanks to the video being compressed onto Youtube. I wouldn't go Milli Vanilli on you. 2. Yes, I know I failed to put in the "Sir-yes-sirs" in the beginning, simply because I didn't feel like waiting an extra hour to re-do that an export it for a fifth time. Use your imagination. In this scene from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, new recruits for Vietnam are being lectured on their first day by Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, played by former real-life drill instructor R. Lee Ermey. It's kind of a shame... the first 45 minutes of this film is amazing. The scenes that actually take place in Vietnam kind of drag. Still, Kubrick was awesome. Good choice, guys. This is an awesome scene... ugh. The Reservoir Dogs one is even longer... you guys are making me work.
