Royal Air Force Laarbruch 2012 (Weeze airport)

Firstly the song is a cover by me called 'The Great Escape' by fantastic singer songwriter Patrick WATSON. The vdeo is of a recent trip down memory lane namely, RAF Laarbruch by my parents who used to live there, infact dad lived there twice firstly as a child 1973 to 1977 and then he was stationed there himself 1987 to 1991. It is now called Weeze airport. Apparently the houses are being used by Police & Fire units to do training but sadly there are no plans to do anything constructive with them. Some of the officer's married quarters are occupied however. My parents said if you are thinking of visiting for a trip down memory lane yourself, then make it soon as the place is slowly being reclaimed by nature and what is left is being destroyed by the emergency services during their training exercises. You can still access certain areas on a push bike or on foot but best advice is to look and don't touch. My parents were told that metal theft is a big problem over there as it is here and as a result the houses are constantly being stripped of any pipes etc.. RYANAIR do cheap enough flights and my parents stayed in an excellent hotel in nearby town Kevelaer called the Stadt hotel on Bury St Edmunds Strasse. If you want to try traditional German food 'Alt Derp' also in Kevelaer is fantastic dad said he never tasted a better steak in his life.By the way the lady on the bike with the silly hat is my mum not a tour guide!
