| Top notch post-bop band featuring leading Russian modern jazz pianist Okun, who is stopping by for a rare London gig.------- Moscow pianist Yakov Okun arrived on the Jazz scene in 90's and has been recognized as a "new leader of the modern Russian Jazz". In a 2002 survey of jazz critics, Yakov Okun was named musician of the year. Yakov is in constant search for new colours creating and experimenting with different structures and styles. For the last 15 years he has been playing concerts and tours in Russia and Europe with leading European and American musicians including Mark Turner, Alex Sipiagin, Benny Golson, James Spaulding, Eddy Henderson, Lou Tabakin, Igor Butman, Yukki Perko, Craig Handy. For this rare London gig, Yakov is in very good company with fellow countryman and altoist Strigalev, plus a killing rhythm section featuring US bassist Mike Janisch and Dutch drummer Sebastian de Krom.
