How to Make a Candle Wax Mold and Casting

Here is a video showing all the steps to making your own candle mold using ComposiMold. An ice cream cone shape (a child's toy) is used to make the shape of the candle. The ComposiMold is chilled in the freezer before the wax is poured into the mold cavity. Here are 2 methods for achieving a good matte, paintable surface on rigid, urethane foam. Both baby-powder and primer (sprayed into the mold and allowed to dry) may be used to create a cast part with a matte surface for easy painting. New Prime-it primer may also be used to simplify the painting process.

♥ DIY: Inexpensive Flexible Mold Tutorial ♥

This video shows how to make cheap and inexpensive flexible molds. Make sure you know that these molds aren't the best type in the market. If you are looking for fool-proof molds, please try mold makers made by sculpey and other brands. Using these molds may not always produce the best results if the mold is too thin and if you push the clay out with a lot of force. It can deform in that way. Gently remove your item by flexing it slightly and fix the parts that are a little deformed or different. I often use this technique with making ice cream scoops from my ice cream mold. I first put the clay in my mold and gentily remove the now-textured clay. Then I use my hands and some foil to texture it slightly more to create a very quick and easy ice cream scoop. Also, know that you may have to use some force to remove the item youre molding from the dried-silicone. You may think that it isnt dry, but by using some force you can easily peel off the molded item. I'd wait around a week or 2 to let it completely dry. As for crediting, I would appreciate the credit, but I will not be a credit monster if you don't choose to. Thanks for watching and trying out this idea!
