Opening of Forum Nuclear-Free World

Astana. October 12, 2011 The International Forum for Nuclear-Free World was opened in the Palace of Independence in Astana today. The event is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site and will be held in two cities -- Astana and Semey. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev welcomed the participants of the Forum. The participants of the event are expected to address the issues regarding the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty coming into force, develop recommendations on effective introduction of the principles of the nuclear weapon free zones. Snow in Kazakhstan

Winter storms in north east Kazakhstan left thousands without power on Wednesday (March 10) and cut off the main city of Semipalatinsk. Heavy snowfall, coupled with high winds of up to 56 miles per hour, caused power cuts in 12 local towns and in parts of Semipalatinsk, leaving an estimated 18000 people without electricity. All road access to and from the city was blocked because of the dangerous weather and local authorities have issued warnings against travel. ... Chagan Atomic Lake

Lac Chagan (ou Lac Balapan), Kazakhstan, 49.93° N 79.01° E, est un lac créé pendant le Projet atomique soviétique de Chagan. Chagan est un test nucléaires le 15 janvier, 1965 pour l'économie nationale ou projet 7, l'équivalent Soviétique des USA Soc opération pour étudier l'utilisations pacifiques des armes nucléaires. C'était une détonation à fleur de terre. L'emplacement était un lit sec du fleuve de Chagan au bord de Semipalatinsk . Le cratère résultant a eu un diamètre de 408 mètres et était de 100 mètres de profond. Un lac important (³ de 10.000.000 m) , connue sous le nom de Lac Chagan ou Lac Balapan .

Aug 29, 1949: Soviet Union's first nuclear bomb test - RIA Novosti 100829

en.rian.ru August 29 was the United Nations' International Day against Nuclear Tests. On that day in 1949 the Soviet Union carried out its first nuclear bomb test, at 7 am at the Semipalatinsk test site. The plutonium bomb, manufactured in the closed town of Ozersk in the Chelyabinsk Region and code-named RDS-1, exploded with a force equal to 22000 metric tons of TNT. The preparations for this first surface nuclear test began long before the bomb was even completed and were conducted with great care. The bomb designers believed that only a test explosion could provide them with complete information on the efficiency and combat capacities of the nuclear charge, according to information in the public domain. Hundreds of thousands people were involved in building and testing the Soviet Union's first nuclear bomb. Design Bureau No. 11 was one of the lead agencies on the project. It had been set up in 1946 specially to develop nuclear weapons. Famous physicists Igor Kurchatov and Yury Khariton were involved in the development of the Soviet nuclear program.

Новый фонтан в Семипалатинске 13.10.11

Новый фонтан в Семипалатинске был сделан в очень короткие сроки а именно его построили всего лишь за одну неделю он является частью реконструкции старой площади в ходе которой были убраны 6 елей, заменена старая "Раздолбанная" плитка. так же были установленны новые скамейки, монитор находящийся по ту сторону дороги , заменены фонарные столбы и всё построение пощади в целом добавились новые "плиточные тропы"
