| Just recently I posted a tribute to speedy Samoan winger Lome Fa'atau. This next tribute is to another winger, but not of the speed type. This tribute is to big Samoan bulldozer Alesana (Alex) Tuilagi. A giant of a winger, standing at 6 ft 1 and weighing 113 kg, Alesana is one of the most blockbusting ball runners in the game today. Alesana is currently playing rugby at Leicester Tigers in the Guinness Premiership and other various European competitions. He is only one out of five brothers who still are or have played top level rugby in Europe. Alesana's brothers include Fred, Henry, Andy, Vavae and Manu who all have served time with the Leicester Tigers. All the brothers possessing one thing in common, brute strength. Tuilagi is known as one of the most explosive runners of the game, most famous for his rampaging runs and undeniably powerful strength he was often compared to the likes of the Legendary Jonah Lomu. His efforts and contribution to the Leicester Tigers have already payed off, scoring 150 points at only 28 years of age. As well as Leicester, Tuilagi plays for the Samoan International side (Manu Samoa), his record scoring four tries in one match against Tonga proves that at his best he can sometimes decide the fate of a game. Like all players Alesana Tuilagi lacks some bits of his game, but when at his best he can be an all time match winner as he showed in the Guinness Premiership final against Gloucester, while winning the game he was also rewarded the man ... |
