| This elevator was first installed in 1974 as an Otis Lexan. It served only floors L and 2. As you approach the elevator, the building to the right where you would park your car is not original. In 1987, they added that onto the existing building. Now, the 1st floor landing had offices and needed to be served by the elevator. In 1987, Dover came in and put the new opening, replaced the fixtures and the all of the doors. I believe the cab and the hydraulics are still original, but everything else appears to have been replaced by Dover. At least the modernization was done with Custom Impulse, a rare form of Impulse that is flush to the COP rather than slanted. I grew up on this elevator, and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. My grandmother worked in this building from 1974-1984 and 1987-2004. I used to be in her office almost every day, and I always loved taking rides with her on this elevator. The other day, she explained to me what it looked like when it was installed and what it looked like when it was modernized. Ih8escalators and I came to the conclusion that this was a former Otis Lexan, due to the old call button slate, and now a Custom Impulse. We call it a DOVIS, since it still has its original motor and what we believe to be its original cab, but everything else is now Dover. It really pains me to see how this elevator is beginning to fall apart. The lanterns are starting to glitch, the indicator burns out every now and then, the bumper and sensors are ... |
