New Palestinian city

After a four-year wait, the planners of Rawabi received Israel's permit to pave an access road to the new Palestinian town. Rawabi is slated to become the first Palestinian city to be built in the territories since 1967. The town is expected to offer some 12000 housing units, a 1000 of which are already under construction. Planners expect the new residents, most of them middle class Palestinians, to move to their new homes at the end of 2013. The plan is to make Rawabi a modern, Western-style city- equipped with public parks, shopping malls, and a country club

The Colour of Olives

Like Many Palestinian families, the Amers live surrounded by the infamous West Bank Wall. Their daily lives are dominated by electrified fences, locks and a constant swarm of armed soldiers. Through sensitive lens we discover the private world of all eight members of the family. As their dramas unfold we catch a glimpse of their constant struggles and the small, endearing details that sustain them:including school friends, olive trees and two small donkeys. The story of the Amer family offers its audeince an opportunity to reflect on the effects of racial segregation, the meaning of borders and the absurdity of war. A WAVE OF CENSORSHIP HITS PALESTINE March 30th 2012

RAMALLAH, West Bank. Journalists are being sent to jail, websites are blocked, bloggers are getting arrested or intimidated...censorship seems to be harshening in the West Bank. Last week, no less than 8 different news sites were no longer accessible in the Palestinian territory. The internet provider in Ramallah says it is just following orders. Earlier two bloggers were arrested for having libelled the President of the Palestinian Authority. One of them reportedly called him a "fascist" on her Facebook page. This has stunned outside observers who generally consider internet in Palestine to be relatively free, when compared to neighbouring regimes. Our reporter met with one of the bloggers, and a Palestinian journalist who just came out of jail after having published an article about the Palestinian foreign minister whom he accuses of corruption.

Newt Gingrich on Palestine and Israel

Newt Gingrich responds to a CSPAN caller's question about the Israel-Palestinian conflict in 2006. Gingrich responds that the entire region was once part of the Ottoman Empire, and neither state existed, that Israelis have live in the region for over 3000 years, and that idea of all the Jews in Israel getting up and moving the US, while wrong, is a rational idea. Palestinian state left hanging

The United Nations General Assembly has wrapped up their sixty-sixth session, but many issues remain unsettled. One key argument is over Palestine's bid for statehood. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has submitted the bid to the UN for recognition of a Palestinian state, but Israel and the US say a Palestinian state will only be achieved through talks with Israel. Marina Portnaya wraps up this year's session of the UN General Assembly.

euronews interview - Rivlin: 'Palestinians trying to impose peace'

www.euronews.net The long awaited UN General Assembly in which the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, presented his request for full UN membership, came and went with very little hope of any change in the Israeli and Palestinian positions. Mediators from the so called 'Quartet' are now trying their utmost to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table, but nothing tangible has come out of it, yet. Euronews' Fariba Mavaddat has spoken to Reuven Rivlin, the Speaker of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset.
