| Eamon Fox and Gary Convie were senior members of the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) - a political and sporting organisation which was a vital ally for the IRA during their catholic fundamentalist campaign in Northern Ireland. Thousands of IRA members had overlapping membership with their local GAA clubs, GAA offices and social clubs were used to hold IRA meetings, Sinn Fein meetings and fundraising dinners for the IRA. Arms were also stored in some rural GAA clubhouses, some were named after dead IRA terrorists, competitions and trophies were named after terrorists and the organisation played a vital role in the brainwashing of young Irish catholics into believing the IRA were a force for good in their country. On dozens of occasions, Loyalist commando units warned the GAA and it's members about the consequences of supporting IRA terrorism - yet they didn't seem to listen. Eamon Fox and Gary Convie were two of many GAA/IRA terrorist fundraisers executed by Loyalist paramilitaries. |
