Soviet Army Parade Victory Day, 1985 Парад Победы

This is the parade in Moscow's Red Square, devoted to the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War, 9 May 1985. Парад Победы 1985 года, посвященные 40-летию Победы, Советского народа в Великой Отечественной Войне.The Soviet Union bore the brunt of the Fascist attack from Nazi Germany in World War II. Indeed it took the lives of nearly 30 million Soviet people to protect their homeland from the Nazi invaders. The war left a lasting trauma on the USSR, and to this day Russia's demographics have never recovered from the war. Victory Day is a sacred holiday in the former Soviet Union, it is a holiday that is celebrated with tears. Presiding over the military parade is Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union; Sergei Sokolov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, General of the Army; Pyotr Lushev (this would be his last parade as commander of the MMD). Music by the Moscow Military District Orchesta, directed by Major General; Nikolai Mikhailov.

World War II SUBSCRIBE TO EXCELLENT WORLD WAR II VIDEOS Videos Running Time: 01:32:00 in 10 Parts Battlefield: "The Battle of Scandinavia" This episode of Battlefield chronicles the Russo-Finish War(1939-1940) and the German invasion of Norway(1940). Almost immediately after invading Poland, Stalin began placing territorial demands on the Finish government. The Soviet Union demanded a 25 miles of land North of Leningrad and demanded a 30 year lease of the Hanko Peninsula area for a new Soviet naval base. Soviet leaders considered these as more than reasonable. The Finish government rejected the terms and began mobilizing. After an alleged shelling of a border town the Soviet Union invaded Finland on November 30th, 1939. The USSR forces consisted of 23 divisions amounting to 450000 men. The Finish defense consisted of 8 divisions amounting to 180000 men. The main finish defense line (Mannerheim Line) was located 25 miles North of Leningrad. The Finns relied on hit and run tactics in freezing conditions. The Finnish assault troops could outmaneuver the Soviets with ski troops. Much food and ammunition was captured to maintain the Finnish forces. Fortunately, the Finns used the same rifle ammo as the USSR. A crude but highly effective gasoline bomb, developed in the Spanish Civil War, was deployed and destroyed up to 2000 Soviet tanks. May 1st Soviet Parade 1974 Парад 1 Мая

This is the 1974 May 1st parade in Moscow's Red Square, a day of international solidary of workers. An instrumental rendition of the Internationale is played in Red Square this year. This was the original anthem of the USSR, up to 1944, when the Soviet anthem replaced it. The Internationale is French in origin, and is the de-facto anthem for the Marxist movement the world over (the Internationale was replaced during WWII, as it was felt Soviet soliders would respond more to an anthem about the Soviet motherland, instead of a political movement).

Despite numerous warnings from the Communist spy networks: the Lucy Spy-Ring the Red Orchestra Richard Sorge, and pleadings from Churchill and FDR, through ultra decrypts, Stalin discounted all invasion warnings. Stalin felt that all these alarming reports was actually an attempt to divide agreements between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, by the British and Americans. The Soviet Union shipped supplies ahead of schedule to Nazi Germany. The people of the Soviet Union and Stalin were completely dumbfounded when the Germans invaded the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941. Three German Army Groups attacked into North, Central and the Southern Soviet Union. Army Group North (Heeresgruppe Nord) (Generalfeldmarschall von Leeb) objective was the Baltic states, recently invaded by the USSR. The ultimate objective was Leningrad. Army Group Center consisted of 16th (Ernst Busch), 18th (Georg von Küchler) Armies and the 4th Panzer Group (Col. Gen Hoeppner). Army Group Centre (Heeresgruppe Mitte) (Generalfeldmarschall von Bock) was comprised of the 4th (Günther von Kluge) and 9th Armies (Strauss), along with 2nd (Guderian) and 3rd (Hoth) Panzer Armies.
