| In this video I demonstrate (poorly) how to change from ascending a vertical rope using prusik knots, to rappelling down the rope on an "8" ring descender. I have not been professionally trained in these techniques, so please don't try them yourself. I recommend seeking out a professional mountaineering school or taking a rope rescue course if you want to try this. Now that that's out of the way... I don't have any easily accessible cliffs in my area. The ones that are close are full of loose sedimentary rocks and I've seen someone get their arm broken by an eggplant sized stone during a rappel off a sedimentary cliff. So, I rigged to the highest point I could find, my 7 foot high workshop loft! :D Still, it was just high enough to demonstrate the technique. Perhaps I'll make a video next time of changing from rappel to ascend. ;-) |
