| Video of the Burj Khalifa (Burj Dubai) in Dubai, UAE. New Year's 2011 Fireworks and Dubai Fountain show extravaganza. It is located near the Dubai Mall in the Burj Khalifa District. Taken right before midnight... about 10 minutes before. ----Taken From Gulf News---- The show, which was visible from a distance of 10km, included sound, lights, laser, music and, of course, the grand finale, the fireworks. Using a special non-explosive paper-based firework, so as to avoid any danger to the audience and the tower itself. The fireworks will not drop sparks as they fizzle out, there will be no trail of ash when the display ends, and since it's all paper-based material as opposed to plastic, the show will be environmentally friendly. High above the Earth's atmosphere, a satellite will relay signals to and from the control station to produce a well-synchronized display of laser beams and fireworks. Estimated 2 million people all over the world watched the Burj's celebrations broadcasted in many TV channels. Security had closed off the bridge connecting Dubai Mall and Souq Al Bahar fearing it would collapse under the weight of the crowd.
