FLUID SIMULATION - THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE ART (Chapter01_p01)

Hello everyone, my name is Vitor Teixeira and welcome to, Fluids simulation: the science behind the art. In the FIRST CHAPTER I'll introduce some of the scientific aspects related to fluids, we will see how fluid simulation evolved in the film industry and the required ingredients to perform a proper fluid simulation in the computational era. The concepts introduced here are just the basics that I think are useful and enough for this kind of video tutorial but at the same time, for those that may want to develop a more deeper research into this area, all the necessary information to start is right here. In CHAPTER 2, we will focus our attention in the creation of atmospheric, pyrotechnic and open water effects within Maya, pinpointing some of their scientific aspects. In the THIRD CHAPTER I'm going to develop from scratch to final compositing an more advanced example of what we can achieve with Maya Fluids. In the FORTH AND FINAL CHAPTER, I'm going to talk about the importance of certain forums, blogs and newsletters that we should always keep an eye on. PS: This video is based on what I could learn during the development of my Master Thesis. I had a lot of help from a lot of Artists in the different forums and blogs and this is my way of giving back some of that help. Waterworld (Full Show) at Universal Studios Hollywood

Water World at Universal Studios Hollywood. The attraction's story occurs after the events of the movie, beginning with Helen's return from "Dryland" to get her friends from the "Atoll", and includes the characters Helen, the Deacon, and the Mariner as well as several "Atollers" and "Smokers". The show is 16 minutes long and includes stunts on water, land, and overhead, supported by many pyrotechnic, flame, water, and other special effects, including the explosive crash landing of the seaplane (referred to as a "Skyboat" by the Deacon). The stunt-show's unique soundtrack was crafted from snips from the movie score. We stopped off here during our three week tour of Route 66. Judy Chicago: A Conversation With Her Younger Self

On October 9 at Pomona College, renowned artist Judy Chicago performed a reenactment and response to a feminist lecture that Chicago originally delivered at Pomona College in 1970. This special event celebrates Chicago's involvement at Pomona College and is part of the Pomona College Museum of Art's three-part exhibition "It Happened at Pomona: Art at the Edge of Los Angeles 1969-1973." Photo-documentation of her work "Snow Atmosphere" is on view until November 6 in "Part 1: Hal Glicksman at Pomona." Chicago will be returning to Pomona College to present "A Butterfly for Pomona," a new pyrotechnic performance based on her "Atmosphere" performances of the early 1970s.

Qatar National Day 2010: Full Fireworks Show

DOHA, 19th Dec 2010 - Breathtaking fireworks lighted up the city's sky on Saturday night. The grand spectacle was witnessed by thousands of people who braved the traffic hold-ups to catch a glimpse of the show which brought to an end the National Day celebrations. The biggest pyrotechnic show in the country started at around 8 pm showcasing beautiful combination of various laser colour lights and lilting music. The fireworks had a full range of 360 degrees, according to the organisers. The brilliant spectacle which dazzled the entire bay area was the result of the hard work put in by over 40 pyrotechnic specialists who set up massive 45 pyro platforms to launch thousands of shells to make the event a memorable one. All products used in the show were especially produced for the event in China. Talking to Qatar Tribune, Abdullah, a Qatari national, said this year's National Day celebration was spectacular.
