Pakistan Army Successfully Test Fires Nuclear Capable Hatf IX (NASR) - (29-05-2012)

Rawalpindi - May 29, 2012: Pakistan today successfully conducted the test fire of indigenously developed Short Range Surface to Surface Multi Tube Missile Hatf IX (NASR). NASR, with a range of 60 km, can carry nuclear warheads of appropriate yield, with high accuracy, and possesses shoot & scoot attributes. This quick response system addresses the need to deter evolving threats, specially at shorter ranges. The test was witnessed by Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), Chairman NESCOM Mr Irfan Burney, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, Senior Officers from the Strategic forces and scientists and engineers of strategic organizations. The Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), terming the NASR Missile as a weapon of peace, said that the test was a major development which will consolidate Pakistan's deterrence capability at all levels of the threat spectrum, thereby ensuring peace in the region. The successful test has also been warmly appreciated by the President, Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, who have congratulated the scientists and engineers on their outstanding success. -----------------

The Truth about Nuclear Power

"The Truth about Nuclear Power" as revealed by an unyielding nuclear researcher Hiroaki Koide of the Kyoto University Research Reactor Institute, who has been issuing warnings about the dangers of nuclear power for over 40 years, gave this lecture on March 20 just after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. The reactors have melted down, and a great amount of radioactivity continues to contaminate the air, ground and ocean. Four months after the accident, despite the efforts of those working onsite, the situation is far from being under control. This accident has been rated as level 7, the highest possible level (and the same as the Chernobyl accident). The permissible radiation exposure limit was raised from 1 mSv to 20 mSV per year following the accident, and the effect that this may have on children is extremely worrying. Japan, which experienced the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombs, is now suffering from the effects of the Fukushima accident. We must learn from this painful experience, and never make the same mistake. We must create a world in which children can grow up in peace. This is a message from Japan to the world.
