| Petoskey's Central Elementary second-grader Ean Greer has an unusual talent — he can stack cups lightning fast. Sometimes, he can even do it blindfolded. After being introduced to the sport of cup stacking just two months ago by his physical education teacher, Jennifer Wood, the 8-year-old is only 4.95 seconds away from the world record for the cycle. The cycle is when the cup stacker puts together a three-stack, six-stack, three-stack and takes each down, then puts together two six-stacks and takes those down, and finally puts two cups to the side and makes a 10-stack and takes that down. The current overall world record for this event is 5.93 seconds and is held by 12-year-old Steven Purugganan from the United States. In Eans age group for 8-year-olds, the world record is 7.71 seconds which was posted by Emma Slabach from the United States. Eans fastest time so far is 10.88 seconds. According to Eans mother, Jenny Greer, first-grader teacher at Central Elementary, her son has been obsessed with cup stacking since spring break. Hes so motivated about it, she said. He gets up in the morning and he starts cup stacking immediately ... he likes things to be structured — hes a little OCD. The second-grader confesses to practicing hours at a time to perfect his craft. I practice about two or three hours on school days, and on the weekends I can do it about three or four hours, he said.
