Convicted Killer May Be Freed With New DNA Evidence

Via Reuters/Yahoo News: "A man sentenced to life in prison for raping a Colorado woman and strangling her to death with a dog leash could be freed on Monday based on advanced DNA testing that is believed to exonerate him of the crime. Sanitation Officer Blocks Hydrant- Jimmy Justice Reuters

While on assignment with Reuters News Service, we come across a Sanitation Officer parked blocking a fire hydrant. It is dangerous and unlawful to block a fire hydrant. When confronted, Officer Owongou said she did it because "there was no parking." When driving in New York City it sometimes appears that there are more cars than streets.In congested areas it can be difficult to find a legal parking spot.Sometimes drivers leave their cars parked improperly for just a few moments while they run into a store to use the bathroom.Traffic officers are notorious for showing a lack of discretion, and many people are ticketed as they are getting back into their vehicles and ready to leave. But what are we supposed to do? As Officer Owongou says "there was no parking."

The collision and Japan's subsequent detention of the skipper (Zhan Qixiong) resulted in a major diplomatic dispute between China and Japan. When China's repeated demands for the release of the skipper were refused and the detention of the skipper extended for a further 10 days, the Chinese government cancelled official meetings of ministrial level and above. Though denied by the Chinese Government, it was reported that China halted exports of rare earth minerals to Japan. The detained Chinese crew members were released without charge and were allowed to return home.
