Film Like A Boss - Sony Vegas: Two Easy Methods to Remove Black Bars

Quick, easy tutorial on how to remove black bars that may pop-up in your video. I didn't quite explain it in the video, but here's why black bars pop-up: - NUTSHELL: The aspect ratio (ie. ratio of width : height) of your source footage (ie. your gameplay or whatever) does not match your project settings. - The common resolution of a HD YouTube video should either be 1280x720 (HD-720p) or 1920x1080 (Full HD-1080p). Both have an aspect ratio of 16:9. - If your footage does not match this aspect ratio of 16:9, black bars will appear to fill in the space. - The fix is either to stretch (method 1) or zoom (method 2). - Method 1 fills black bars without cutting anything out of the frame, but makes everything wider. - Method 2 maintains the size of everything in the picture, but zooms in thus cutting out portions of your frame. - BEST FIX: Make sure your footage is 16:9 aspect ratio. Not exactly a fix, but it's the only way to guarantee no black bars and undistorted footage. So yeah guys that's basically the reason why black bars appear on your videos. The best way to avoid it is to use the same dimensions and ratios.
