| The Class 1 World Powerboat Championship is one of the most dramatic series in international marine motorsport, with 9 confirmed races this year. It is dynamic and spectacular, glamorous and evocative; a sport fuelled by adrenaline and passion. It brings together the latest in million dollar state of the art technology, an array of spectacular venues from the golden sands of the Arabian Gulf, the steely blue waters of the Norwegian Fjords and the sun drenched coasts of southern Europe and an international group of teams and racers who remain a breed apart in professional sport. Ten teams will be contesting the 2009 title race. Each Class 1 Powerboat is capable of speeds in excess of 270Kmh, weighs approx 5000kgs, is 42 ft in length and powered by two 8.2litre, V12 engines. |
