He offers to sell his unique Laser Rifle (Wazer Wifle) to you for 500 caps because he has been kicked off the scavenger team and no longer goes out on patrols -- he no longer needs a gun anymore, but figures that you might. With sufficient Barter skill, you can haggle the price down to 250 caps. If you have the Child at Heart perk, you can get the Wazer Wifle for free. Also note that if you have a high enough Barter skill you must buy it for 250 caps, that is you can't pay what it's worth. While identical in looks, it does 5 more damage and also sports a larger magazine at 30 rounds instead of the regular 24. It is also a very durable weapon and can go a long time without needing repairs. This makes it a good weapon for those with low repair skill. It is received in near-perfect condition and may be repaired using the standard AER9 Laser Rifle. This weapon is more powerful than it seems. In VATS its possible for a leveled character to fire eight (8) aimed-shots in a row. Obtaining 2 copies of this weapon: Don't speak with Biwwy. Pickpocket Biwwy's Microfusion Cells, then leave the Great Chamber and save the game. Load the saved game, re-enter the Great Chamber and you will notice that Biwwy now has the Wifle in his inventory. Pickpocket it and proceed as normal, ie talk to him and buy another one.

Compression Testing and What You Can Learn From It

Here is a video on performing a compression test on an engine to assess it's mechanical condition. An engines ability to compress air and fuel is directly proportional to it's performance since an engine is nothing more than an air compressor once you take away all the controls. A compression test is a good general test that will give you an idea of the engine's overall health but it does not give specific information on what the problem is should there be one, for that a "leak down test" would be required, here is a link to that video. www.youtube.com However if you find yourself looking for the source of a performance problem with an engine, this is a great place to start. This test is often overlooked in favor of looking at the fuel or ignition system, I think that's a mistake, if an engine can't perform mechanically no amount of electronics will make that better. It is fully automatic, has a 30 round magazine, powered by easy to find energy cells, uses very few action points , and is repaired with the common laser pistol. Colonel Autumn's Laser pistol is a modified, fully automatic version of the standard pistol. Its rate of fire is comparable to the Gatling laser. While the pistol may appear to deal max 75 damage, its actual damage output is set to 10 in the construction set. Any attempt to modify the base damage will result in an equally multiplied output in-game (ie setting the damage to 20 in the construction set will make the pistol appear to deal 150 damage in-game). Many players have noted that the weapon does not appear to have an elevated amount of damage, and it is therefore possible that the pistol is even weaker than an ordinary laser pistol. This version also has a weight of 2, compared to the standard version's 3. This unique pistol is considered a Quest Item; similar to Donovan's Wrench, and cannot be dropped. The only way it can be removed from the player's inventory in-game is by using it as spare parts to repair a regular laser pistol, however this does destroy it permanently. The weapon (being a quest item) can only be repaired manually.

102 year old Steam Tractor Runs a Lap

1907 Avery 22 hp "Contractors Special" This "Contractors Special" Avery steam traction engine was built in 1907. It is a 22 horsepower, 2 cylinder undermounted engine. It is owned by descendants of Jerome DeBacker. This engine was used around Mead, Co. until 1915 when it was purchased by Jerome DeBacker for use in threshing and plowing in the Boulder area. It was in considerable disrepair when purchased. Jerome completed many mechanical repairs before putting the engine in service. He also added some touches of his own including a Union Pacific bell and several whistles. After repairs, it was used for threshing with an Avery 36 x 60 in. "Yellow Fellow" wooden separator around the East Boulder area until being retired around 1945. It was also used for plowing in the Bennett, Co. area, pulling a 12 bottom 14 inch plow. Jerome always regretted the fact that the plow was cut up for scrap during the war. We still have the separator. It was last used on the Stuart Anderson farm in 1976 to thresh wheat. During its time the Avery also ran a sawmill, pulled a scarifier for state road work, and provided steam for a chemical company near Valmont Butte. In 1955 a group of steam enthusiasts in the Boulder- Denver area convinced Jerome to bring the engine out of retirement. It was cleaned up and minor repairs were made to get the engine operational. The boiler was retubed in 1957. In 1959 the lugs were removed from drive wheels and it was driven into Boulder for the Colorado Centennial ...
