Black Aperture - [Phase One] : "Proximal"

Black Aperture is a Minecraft testing facility filled with some of the most advanced contraptions in the game and which pays homage to two of the greatest video game franchises ever created, Half Life and Portal. [Phase One] In Phase One, the facility is still in it's infancy and, although still packed with Minecraft inventions (like a teleporter, wireless redstone, and a multi-floor bi-directional elevator), the facility is looking extremely bare. This is simply the beginning. Episode 2: "Proximal" While work on the elevator enters it's final stages, the facility around it has yet to begin taking shape. However, the elevator now requires only a handful of features to be added until construction can begin. Regardless, research and development continues unabated and several creations spring up around the facility including a compact player proximity detector (nicknamed Proxy), and some devious BUD-controlled mines. Minecraft - The Legend of Verigan, Part 2 (Shadow of Israphel Special)

Part 2 of our highlights from the charity yogscast special which was livestreamed to raise money for Child's Play. Japan's Nuclear Disaster Explained

Donate: american.redcross.org In which Hank explains nuclear power and the situation at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan. In short, fission products continually decaying in both active and spent fuel rods create enough heat to melt themselves. The coolant systems that would prevent this from happening were disabled by the tsunami. Cracks in the fuel rods created an environment allowing hydrogen to form, which concentrated and then exploded several times destroying both the primary and secondary containment structures at at least one reactor. The result is that the reactor needs to remain cooled or else radiation from the meltdown will be released to the environment in significant quantities. The people working to keep the reactor from overheating are risking their lives to do so, and we all hope they will be able to stabilize the reactor without harm.

Coldplay's Fix You - Music Matters for Japan (Various Artists)

To benefit the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami that shook the lives of so many in March 2011, 49 artists from 18 countries including Simple Plan's Pierre Bouvier and Sebastien Lefevbre, Evaline, These Kids Wear Crowns and 11 year old Yuto Miyazawa came together in Singapore to rerecord Coldplay's Fix You. The sale proceeds of the this track will go towards the Japanese Red Cross Society and Peace Boat (a Tokyo based charity which is helping with the country's rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts).
