The star-studded Iran team outclassed South Korea 14-1 at al-Shabab Stadium on Friday to announce that they are still a team to continue their domination of futsal in Asia. Two Iranian players, ranked six in the world, scored two hattricks in the match, and two others got a brace each. Mahdi Javid, playing his maiden AFC Futsal Championship game, scored his first goal in 15th minute before adding two more goals in the 17th and 27th minute. Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh kicked the ball into the back of the net in the 12th, 13th, and 27th minute. Mohammad Keshavarz and Javad Asghari Moghaddam recorded brace, and Mohammad Taheri, Ahmed Esmailpour, Hossein Tayebi, and Vahid Shamsaie - the top scorer at seven AFC Futsal Championships -- each scored a goal. Seo Daeyun scored a consolation goal for South Korea 10 minutes to the end of the game. In other matches of the day, Thailand beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0, the UAE edged past Turkmenistan 3-1, Japan downed Lebanon 3-2, Australia overcame Qatar 3-1, Tajikistan defeated Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) 6-4, and China routed Indonesia 5-2, and Kuwait drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan.
