| Back in in 1997, when i was 12 years old, i first noticed a lump growing on the outside of my middle finger. Unlike most people I use my ring and middle finger (instead of my index and middle) to write, so I assumed that this was a callus forming because of the way I hold my pens. I can't remember exactly how painful it was at first, but overtime I got used to it. During the next few years I would ask the doctor about it during my yearly physicals and she agreed with me that a callus from holding writing instruments. It was probably 12 years later that I had banged it on something (not exactly sure, but by that time I was 22 and doing lots of work on cars), and over the next month it swelled up to 2x its size, turned very red and hurt like hell. I mean really hurt, I've broken 20+ bones in my lifetime and this was killer. So I made a docs apt to have it checked out. When I finally went to the doctors for it they x-rayed it and then took a giant syringe and tried to extract some of the fluid from it... Nothing came out. The doctor concluded that it was probably benign and a callus, and that I could have it removed if I wanted to. At this point in time I wasn't covered under any healthcare, and just left it to be dealt with another day cause it wasn't gonna kill me. The next summer, 2010, once again while working on cars i musta bumped it while working and over the next few weeks it swells up to 2-3x it's size and hurt real real bad.
