Boeing 747-400 United Airlines Landing

San Diego International Airport (IATA: SAN, ICAO: KSAN, FAA LID: SAN), sometimes referred to as Lindbergh Field, is a public airport located 3 mi (4.8 km) northwest of the central business district of San Diego, California. San Diego International is the busiest single-runway commercial service airport in the United States, and second in the world after London Gatwick, with approximately 600 departures and arrivals carrying 50000 passengers each day, and a total of 18.3 million passengers in 2007. San Diego is the largest metropolitan area of the United States which does not serve as a hub nor secondary hub for any airline, however the airport is a focus city for Southwest Airlines, who is the largest operator. Landing at the airport from the east (the most common approach) offers dramatic closeup views of skyscrapers, Petco Park (home of the San Diego Padres), and the Coronado Bridge from the left side of the aircraft. What you can't hear is the unintentinally hilarious reactions of horrified passengers. "What's the Red Line doing up here?" "It's not running in the subway?" "You mean I have to walk two blocks!?" "I have to transfer to a BUS!?" Come on, people! Adapt or perish! This detour was announced beforehand in the media. None of the stations on the detour are more than eight blocks from those on the normal route. Most were one or two. Roosevelt and Clark/Lake are free transfers! Get a route map; they're free at every station! And be happy the CTA is maintaining its infrastructure! One advantage of this temporary route, that usually only Purple and Brown Line passengers get to enjoy: A beautiful vista of the skyscrapers on either side of the Chicago River, and the bascule bridges across it.

A five minute film by Rick Liss. A portrait of New York City circa early 1980s, which was an extremely fertile time creatively in New York City. This is a record of the city at that time. Music by Laurie Anderson. Review: Rick Liss's "NO YORK CITY" pulses viewers through the heart of an iconic metropolis at the speed of blood. Filmed in 1983 with an aesthetic that defies time, this riveting work moves us with both alienation and beauty. The film sees the city as an organism and its citizens as cells-- sometimes frantic, sometimes in harmony. We race across a harbor, speed through traffic, gawk at art, balk at commerce, scuttle along sidewalks, weave through subways, bask in tickertape, dream beneath an angel at Bethesda Fountain and greet mimes in a boat on a great pond. As night falls, we join the electric carnival before soaring above the skyscrapers at dawn. The long day's journey is impeccably wrought by Liss with a striking sound design, music by Laurie Anderson and Jeffrey Meyer, influences of Buñuel and Scorsese, and a vision that's distinctly his own. Just another update about the server. It's changed a lot since the last video. For multiple reasons Permissions is now enabled. So no more cheating. Things have been cleaned up. On Christmas Eve 1946, George Bailey (James Stewart) is deeply depressed, even suicidal. Prayers for George are heard by the angels. Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers), an Angel Second Class, is sent to Earth to save him—and thereby earn his wings. Joseph, the head angel, reviews George's life with Clarence. As a 12-year-old boy in 1919, George (Bobby Anderson) saved the life of his younger brother Harry (Todd Karns) after he fell through the ice on a pond, though George got an ear infection that impaired his hearing in one ear. Later, as an errand boy in a pharmacy, George stopped his boss, local druggist Mr. Gower (HB Warner), from mistakenly filling a child's prescription with poison while grief-stricken over the death of his son from influenza. From childhood, George's greatest ambition has been to see the world and design bridges and skyscrapers. However, he repeatedly has to sacrifice his dreams for the well-being of others. He puts off going to college to help in the family business until Harry graduates from high school and can replace him at the Bailey Building and Loan Association, vital to many of the disadvantaged in town. On Harry's graduation night in 1928, George discusses his future with Mary Hatch (Donna Reed), who has had a crush on him since she was a little girl.
