Jeetendra as Deepak is a truck driver. One day he meets with haughty snobbish and popular singerReena Roy as Asha. He assists her with her travel and the two become friends. Deepak loves Rameshwari as Mala introduces her to him mom and soon they are married. Mala has eye problems and eventually loses her sight. While travelling Deepak has an accident and his body is nowhere to be found. Sulochna Latkar as Deepaks mom blames a pregnant Mala for this bad luck and throws her out of the house. Mala gives birth to a baby girl and both live a very poor and destitute life. Deepak has met with Asha several times and would like to marry her. Asha would also like to marry Deepak. And then Asha finds out that Mala is still alive and she must now decide to withhold that information from Deepak so she could marry him instead or tell him the truth and lose him forever. Sankar's name in this post-'Aparichitudu' period, is a trump card. Any film associated with the name of Sankar is sure to have good opening. 'Kadal', directed by his disciple Saktivel and dubbed into Telugu with the title 'Premiste' and released on Dasara day, is an example. It has good opening of the type never seen for a Telugu dubbing of a Tamil film in recent time. The word 'Premiste' drew the attention of mostly youth. The film opened with an introduction that was based on a true story that happened in Tamilnadu, Therefore the tragic end of that incident is retained in the film too and ended with a bit of dramatization. Half of the film is flashback of a love story that led a pair elope and made the girl recall their past, as they travel in a bus. All the events that happened till then is narrated in the format. Like a news bit this film too has brief story that does not last even a couple of paragraphs if published as a news item. The girl Iswarya falls in love with a motor cycle mechanic Murali. Unaware of this, the girl's family arranges the marriage of Iswarya with another man of their choice. Almost when betrothal is being fixed, a disturbed Iswarya runs to her lover and encourages him for eloping as the only way left for them. And they do. She recalls these events in their journey to a hide out. where Murali's trusted friend lives. They stay at a place and get married urgently with his help. The Bengali Film Lalan Fakir was released In the Year 1987 starring Robi Ghosh, Kali Banerjee, Anup Kumar, Asit Baran, Ashim Kumar, Sandhya Roy, Mahua Roy Choudhury & others. The Bengali film is directed by Shakti Chatterjee. Hemango Biswas Scored the Music in the Film. The story is as Lalon lead a peaceful life with his wife Tulsi and his widow mother. One day he decides to visit Puri with his friends. While travelling he is diagnosed with small pox and becomes seriously ill. His co-passengers do not agree to travel with him because of that fact that he was carrying a communicable disease and push him off to the sea. Lalon survives by the grace of God and is brought home by a mother daughter duo named Fathima and Moti. Lalon starts recovering at their care. His weak memory which had given way sometime ago started coming back. Lalan decided at once to go back to his family. However he was not accepted with open arms given the fact that he had spent a lot of time in a Muslim house. Lalan comes back to Fathima and Moti.
