| The Russian opposition held a meeting in the center of Moscow, on Pushkinskaya Square, on March 5. The meeting was held under the slogan "For honest elections". The unauthorized part of the action, in which Putin's adversaries were going to encircle the Kremlin, did not take place. Sergei Udaltsov, the coordinator of the Leftist Front movement, climbed into the fountain and started shouting that he was not going to leave the square until Putin left the Kremlin. The organizers of the action said that there were 20000 people present at the meeting, whilst law-enforcement officials claimed there were nearly 14000 attending. |
