It could also be short for "linear" or possibly related to "line" (in the train-related sense). In Japan, cicadas represent summer, so it's probably referring to the end of summer. Of course, cicadas are sometimes also seen as symbols of rebirth... Even Hachi admitted that this song (at least, I'm assuming he was talking about this song way back when) is kinda... more emo than usual. Oh well.
