| Here is a video of a Lionel Postwar New York Central 2344 F3 AA units and a 2344C F3 B unit. I decided to get out some of the vintage trains today and run them for a while. I also decided to make this video in black and white to try and give it the feel that it was made 60 years ago. The 2344's were made by Lionel between 1950 and 1952. The locomotives in this video have the large GM decal, which signifies these locomotives were produced in 1950. The first six cars in this train are also from the Postwar era. The Auto Loader is from the Postwar Celebration Series and the remaining cars are MPC era copies of Postwar cars. And there is a Postwar 6557 smoking caboose bringing up the rear. The track is K-Line tubular with O-96 curves. And the train is being controlled by a Lionel ZW transformer. There are no Railsounds or Protosound, just the sounds from the e unit and two horizontal motors.. No Legacy, TMCC, or DCS, just the handle of a ZW in your right hand. No smoke unit, just the smell of ozone in the air. There is a certain charm these old trains have that always makes them fun to run. So sit back and enjoy the ride. Back to a time when a Lionel Train was the toy to have. Much like a Playstation or a Wii is today, these were the hottest toys to have back in the day. |
