BACKSTORY: Well, Shoshana gives the backstory on how we met, and how this song came to be, so I am going to take another direction with this one. The first time Shoshana and I ever performed this song together was at a Benefit Event called 'The Kitchen Sink.' Shoshana's last day at Hairspray was that day. It was on a Sunday. She was already very emotional. I was very emotional, too. I didn't know ANYONE. To my left was Stephanie J. Block and Julia Murney (neither one I had worked with yet) and to my right was the adorable David Burtka and Anythony Rapp. Shoshana was running late, so I was waiting downstairs in the greenroom, by myself, twiddling my thumbs. Finally Shoshana showed up, but we were told to go upstairs and wait on the side for our performance. Everyone sang two songs. Shoshana sang The Cornet Man from Funny Girl, first. Then she called me up on stage to perform 'Home.' I was SHAKING so badly. The song went beautifully and when we were done, we went to sit back down with everyone. David Burtka was crying and touched my leg when he told me he loved the song and I thought, 'wow, this is a nice moment.' (not the touching of the leg, though, that was nice, too.
