National Geographic Bee 2012 - KS Finalist

Ganesh Aruna is a 14-year-old 8th grader at Overland Trail Middle School in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City. He hopes to become a doctor and travel the world with "Doctors Without Borders," helping people in need. He likes reading, biking, basketball and tennis. He wants to see the Taj Mahal in India. Ganesh will be competing at the National Geographic Bee championship in Washington, DC Watch on the National Geographic Channel Thursday, May 24 at 8 pm ET. The finals will be broadcast later on public television stations. Check local listings.

TornadoVideos.net deploying inside multiple tornadoes with the Dominator in northern Oklahoma on two separate supercells as part of a historic Oklahoma tornado outbreak. The first series of suction vortices is from the supercell just south of Wakita, OK that tracked near Medford, and the white elephant trunk was west of Pawkuska in Osage County. We also intercepted this second tornado with my window down since I developed so fast, and nearly blew us off the road. Lost Rod Serling Interview, 1970 pt01

In 1970 University of Kansas professor James Gunn interviewed a series of science fiction authors for his Centron film series "Science Fiction in Literature". This footage from an unreleased film in that series featuring an interview with Rod Serling, which wasn't finished due to problems with obtaining rights to show footage from Serling's work in television. This reconstruction is based on the original workprint footage that was saved on two separate analog sources since the audio track was separate. Re-syncing the footage was a long involved process as the audio track didn't match the film and there was substantial sync drift. While not perfect, there's a lot of interesting information on writing for television in the dialogue with Serling as well as a prophetic statement about his health at the beginning.
