Does Islam teach a muslim how to eat and drink? The answer is a loud "Yes". Islam does teach muslims the most common acts that a muslim performs in his everyday life and eating and drinking is one of these. Allah has commanded in Holy Quran"Eat and drink and do not be a spendthrift"So a muslim can eat and drink keeping in view the commandmants of Allah and the ways and manners told by Prophet Muhammad.However there are certain things that are prohibited for eating and drinking and certain times during the month of fasting when eating and drinking is not allowed. Folowing are the manners told by the Prophet Muhammad for eating: 1.Wash your hands and grogle before eating. 2.Eat with the intention to get power and strength for obeying all the commandments of Allah. 3.Eat with your right hand. 4.Eat collectively and not seperately.More hands in one utensil will bring more blessing from Allah. 5.Be contended and thankful to Allah on whatever you get for eating and drinking. 6.Eat while sitting on both your feet with your knees bended or sitting on left foot and right calf with knee up or on both calves with both knees bended. 7.Eat after taking off your shoes. 8.Offer the food to the eildest of all persons who are eating. 9.Eat with your thummb and first two fingers if easy or use all your hand. 10.Start with the name of Allah the Benevolent and Merciful ie recite"Bismillah Hirrahman Nirrahim".In case this expression is forgotten in the beginning of eating,you can recite it in ...
