| In the not very distant past in Chennai, summer holidays meant visiting people, playing cricket and assorted games at home or on the normally empty roads. And summer holidays also meant mom and grandma preparing some great snacks at home. Top on my favourites list was the "poruviralangai urundai", "karchikai" (sweet somas), pri urundai, "mixture", and the "kai murukku". In this video Girija Chitti and my Mom do the "kai murukku". Now though my personal preference is the "paccharisi" or raw rice murukku, I equally like to devour the "puzhungal arisi" type. There is no comparison though. The paccharisi type, specifically made in our home town Kalpathy, Palghat, Kerala is the very best in my opinion. Made with pure coconut oil and wood fire, the taste is unmatched. |
