| Designed to relieve growing motor traffic and support the significant continuing urban development of Dubai, the completed network will service 1.2 million passengers a day and 355 million passengers per year. EEC Lincolne Scott was engaged to partake in the design of the M&E systems for the rail system's Red Line which will connect Al Rashidaya and Jebel Ali Port. The Red Line is comprised of 35 kilometres of track and 25 stations, 4 of which are underground. The whole 52.1km is expected to take 60 minutes to travel, with an estimated 32000 passengers per hour. The system will eventually be expanded to include the Green, Blue and Purple Lines providing a total of 318 kilometres of track. Responsible for the main depot at Rashidaya, the auxiliary depot at Jebel Ali and two special stations, EEC Lincolne Scott's scope of work included the mechanical, electrical, sanitary, fire protection and transportation services. Lincolne Scott worked in close contact with the client and the project design manager WS Atkins & Partners Overseas. The role also required close coordination with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries who were responsible for the design and installation of all maintenance equipment and systems. As the project was delivered fast-track and construction was underway as the design progressed, Lincolne Scott maintained close liaison with the construction consortium's program.
