Full Circle with Michael Palin Episode 1 Part 4 Episode One: Alaska/Russia Michael begins his trek around the Pacific Rim at Little Diomede Island, Alaska, in hopes of returning there in a year's time. Arriving at Nome, he visits with a goldpanner on the "Golden Sands of Nome". Next Michael journeys to Kodiak Island, aiming to catch a flight from the US Coast Guard to the western island of Attu. Unfortunately, the plane never arrives; however, he does catch a glimpse of the Kodiak brown bear. Michael and his crew find an alternative: they catch the last Alaska Airlines flight of the year from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk in Russia. Arriving on the Kamchatka Peninsula, he meets his guide Igor Nosov and his assistants. They board a helicopter and observe the Kronotsky Reserve, which contains some active volcanoes, as well as some reindeer. Moving on to the city of Magadan, he visits an old Gulag camp with a survivor. In Vladivostok, he observes the once-powerful Pacific Fleet and is given an opportunity to sing with the Pacific Fleet Ensemble. About: The series documented a 10-month, 50000 mile (80000 km) trip taken by Palin and a film crew around the rim of the Pacific Ocean in 1995, beginning on the Diomede Islands between Alaska and Russia in the Bering Strait. dissolve in this is Johan Ingers first creation since his appointment as regular guest choreographer of Nederlands Dans Theater. Although Inger has created dissolve in this for a total of sixteen dancers from Nederlands Dans Theater I and II together, it is not a group piece. It is the individual that Inger zooms in and out of in his new choreography, to eventually rise above the individual and express collective and universal themes like time, origin and transformation. though we know perfectly well it is mere shadow, we are overcome with the feeling that in this small corner of the atmosphere there reigns complete and utter silence; that here in the darkness immutable tranquility holds sway (In praise of shadows, Junichiro Tanizaki) To create dissolve in this, Inger collaborated with Jens Sethzman (set and light design), Urtzi Aranburu (choreographers assistant) and dancers Celia Amade, Nina Botkay, Anna Herrmann, Sandra Marin García, Sarah Reynolds, Ema Yuasa, Fernando Hernando Magadan, Iván Perez, Lukáš Timulak, Bastien Zorzetto, Chiaki Horita, Carolina Mancuso, Bryan Arias, César Faria Fernandes, Riley Watts and Spenser Theberge (A cast). Russia Trip (3 of 3) - Kamchatka

When I finished uni, I took 11 weeks to see Mongolia and the interesting, eastern part of Russia. The previous 2 videos covered Australia to China, Mongolia, Siberia, and into the Russian Far East, where I hitchhiked to Magadan. This section covers the last two weeks of the trip, which I spent in Kamchatka. Kamchatka is an extremely geologically active peninsula in the Russian Far East, and a popular (albeit expensive) domestic tourist destination. My main interest in the region is the 50 or so active volcanoes, of which 6 are currently erupting. Some of those are in quite remote areas and difficult to see, however I did manage to see and climb about 20 in total. Gorely Volcano also managed to erupt while I was there. At Kurilskoye Lake I finally managed to see quite a few bears. While this section was by far the most expensive leg of the trip (ten times as pricey as hitchhiking) it was thoroughly worth it! Как в Магадане записывают в народный фронт

Как в Магадане пытаются записать коммунистов и их сторонников, а также представителей других партий в «Народный фронт» имени Путина» Уважаемые друзья! Об общероссийском Народном фронте имени Путина говорилось уже достаточно много. О том, как в него попадают люди, ни сном, ни духом не ведающие об этом факте. О том, как загоняют на этот «фронт» под угрозой увольнения и т.д. Эта волна докатилась и до Магадана. 7 июля состоялось заседание Президиума Совета ветеранов войны, вооруженных сил, правоохранительных органов и труда Магаданской области, на котором большинством голосов было принято решение о вступлении Совета в Народный фронт. Против голосовали представители комитета ветеранов труда, самого многочисленного комитета, объединяющего свыше 10 000 человек. Остальные комитеты в общей сумме не набирают и тысячи ветеранов. Так, в комитет ветеранов войны входят 45 человек, в комитет ветеранов Афганистана около 150 человек, в остальные -- чуть больше. Таким образом, Президиум Совета бесцеремонно проигнорировал мнение большинства, и общим чохом записал в Народный фронт всех ветеранов Магаданской области. Совет ветеранов объединяет людей самых разных политических взглядов. Это и представители «Единой России», и коммунисты, и ЛДПР, и беспартийные, и т.д. Он был создан для оказания помощи ветеранам, решения различных проблем, связанных с ними, общения друг с другом...
