| Philippe Bianconi, piano Tedi Papavrami, violin Marc Coppey, cello Schubert wrote his 2nd Piano Trio in 1827 for the wedding of his friend Joseph von Spaun. The theme of this second movement is based on a Swedish folk song, "Se solen sjunker" ("See the sun setting"). It is marked "andante con moto". Made popular by Stanley Kubrick's film "Barry Lyndon", this piece of music beat Beethoven's Choral Symphony and Mozart's Requiem to second and third place in the 2007 "Elections classiques" of the French radio station Radio Classique. The present recording was made at the Olympia, Paris, on the occasion of this victory (6 May 2007). Olivier Bellamy of Radio Classique and Marisa Berenson, who played Lady Lyndon in the Kubrick film, present the winner.
