| The Atlanta dancer and choreographer discusses the upcoming performance of LIFT and his piece in the show, along with rehearsal footage of his duet with Atlanta Ballet's Jamal Callender. LIFT presented by FOSTER/SLADE Saturday May 15th 2010 Woodruff Arts Center Hertz Stage 2pm and 8pm LIFT is a project conceived by Atlanta choreographer and professor Daryl L. Foster, and Redemption Dance Theater Artistic Director Terry Slade. The two combined to bring this project to fruition. The Project is based on LIFT, a work created by Daryl Foster in 2003 that focuses on escaping the gravity of a difficult situation.The project attempts to examine the many intricate folds of men, areas that frequently remain hidden. The project will bring together men from many parts of Atlanta, and feature them in ways many have not seen before. In addition the artistic vision rests on six pillars: Spirituality, Masculinity, Family, Sexuality, Community and Politics. Works will be created around these pillars. The choreography of Daryl L. Foster, Terry Slade, David Norwood, Juel Lane, Quincy Lamar, Timothy Jones, and guest choreographer Christopher Huggins. |
