Part 7 : President Ahmadinejad at Columbia University

The vile taunts and insults that Mr. Bollinger, the President of the University of Columbia, regurgitated while introducing President Ahmadinejad just goes to show Mr. Bollinger's lack of character. President Ahmadinejad was invited to deliver a speech at the University of Columbia in New York, while he was there for the annual UN general meeting. Mr Bollinger's diatribe can only be characterized as childish, immature, and uncivilzed. President Ahmadinejad's speech in contrast was measured and he composed himself throughout the barrage of non-sensical innuendo thrown at him. He proved yet again the humility and cultured manners of the Iranian people. Even the most uneducated and barbaric people treat their invited guests with respect; Mr. Bollinger could certainly use some lessons on civility and common sense courtesy. I have never witnessed such insults and adhominem attacks being spewed by the president of a university. Makes me wonder if the academia in US universities is of such calibre, does it really get worse when it comes to common folks?

The ABC's of DADA (1 of 3)

The Dada movement was a protest against the barbarism of World War I, the bourgeois interests that Dada adherents believed inspired the war, and what they believed was an oppressive intellectual rigidity in both art and everyday society. Dada was an international movement, and it is difficult to classify artists as being from any one particular country, as they were constantly moving from one place to another. Dada thought that reason and logic had led people into the horrors of war, so the only route to salvation was to reject logic and embrace anarchy and irrationality. However, this could also be thought of as the logical side of anarchy and rejection of values and order; it is not irrational to embrace the systematic destruction of values, if one thinks them to be flawed. According to its proponents, Dada was not art - it was "anti-art". It was anti-art in the sense that Dadaists protested against the contemporary academic and cultured values of art. For everything that art stood for, Dada was to represent the opposite. Where art was concerned with aesthetics, Dada ignored aesthetics. If art were to have at least an implicit or latent message, Dada strove to have no meaning - interpretation of Dada is dependent entirely on the viewer. If art is to appeal to sensibilities, Dada is to offend. Ironically, Dada became an influential movement in modern art, a commentary on order and the carnage Dadaists believed it wreaked. Through their rejection of traditional culture ...

The New Adventures of Tarzan: Bruce Bennett, Ula Holt, Ashton Dearholt, Frank Baker (1935 Movie)

thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com The New Adventures of Tarzan is a 1935 American film serial in 12 chapters. It is a more authentic version of the character than most other adaptations, with Tarzan as a cultured and well educated gentleman as in the original Edgar Rice Burroughs novels. It was filmed during the same period as the Johnny Weissmuller/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Tarzan films. Episodes 2-12 were edited into the film Tarzan and the Green Goddess. The serial was partly filmed in Guatemala, and Tarzan was played by Herman Brix (known post-war as Bruce Bennett). The final screenplay was credited to Charles F. Royal, and from Episode 6 onward, also Basil Dickey. It was produced by Ashton Dearholt, Bennett Cohen and George Stout under the corporate name of "Burroughs-Tarzan Enterprises, Inc." (which also distributed) and was directed by Edward Kull and Wilbur F. McGaugh. Several plot elements bring the characters together in search (and pursuit) of the Guatemalan idol known as The Green Goddess: Tarzan's friend D'Arnot has crash landed in the region and is in the hands of a lost tribe of jungle natives. Major Martling is leading an expedition to find the fabled artefact for a powerful explosives formula hidden within it. Ula Vale's fiancé died in an earlier expedition to rescue the artefact for its archaeological benefit and so she starts one of her own in his honour. Raglan has been sent by Hiram Powers, Ula's lawyer, to steal the valuable idol for himself - in ...

Mussel Power Helps Restore Virginia Waters

Freshwater mussels are amazing bi-valve animals that that help keep our rivers and creeks clean by filtering out pollutants, sediments and algae. Good mussel population usually indicates a healthy aquatic system. And that's important for people who also need clean waterways for drinking water, agriculture and recreation. Recently, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, The Nature Conservancy, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service hosted the largest reintroduction of cultured mussels (approximately two years old) into the beautiful waters of the Clinch River in southwest Virginia. Approximately 6500 mussels, including the highly endangered oyster mussel and the Cumberlandian combshell were released into the river. A number of other partners assisted in the effort, including some enthusiastic 4th graders. For more information about the Clinch-Powell Initiative and the many businesses and other organizations and partners helping restore Virginia's southwest waters, visit: vwrrc.vt.edu

Billy Sunday Preaching

This man of God was so animated and energized by God in preaching. How it offends the "cultured" crowd. My friend Jeff did a great job portraying him. We were all a part of a Wax Museum of Church History that came alive during a missions conference.
