It's a major residential, cultural and business center. It stretches from the East River west to the Hudson River between 155th Street to the north and 110th Street to the south, which is the northern boundary of Central Park. Harlem is so large, in fact, that it would be impossible to cover in just one video. So instead, our first stop in our Harlem series will be Central Harlem & West Harlem! Harlem History: Harlem was originally a Dutch village founded around 1658. It was named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. In the early 20th century many African Americans moved to this area and in the 1920s and 30s many famous artists, musicians and businessmen became well known in Harlem and took Black culture to a higher level, in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance. Playing a FFA against the CPU on the Napoleonic Era mod for Age of Empires III, which can be downloaded here: www.ne.elpea.net Anyways, I play as the Italians here, my favorite civ on NE. They have a strong economy and since their merchants generate XP as long they're collecting resources, it gives them a fast shipment rate. Pretty neat civ, with some drawbacks: One of them is that you get housed more easily than other civs, thanks to the lower limit of houses they can build. Even with the tech that increases the population supported for each house, you'll still won't reach the 200 pop cap until you build some extra TCs. Their military isn't bad, but their lack of skirmishers is kinda of a problem for me, since crossbowmen are much less effective against heavy infantry: they lack skirmishers range and attack bonuses. Not to mention that hand canoneers have a extremely short range and they cannot be upgraded after the Fortress Age, making them useless at Industrial and Imperial ages. So I have to rely on falconets and/or horse artillery against enemy heavy infantry. For the first part of this comp stomp, I used the renaissance prince for a fast age-up to the Colonial age and started to make a force of musketeers, pikemen (For siege and dealing with eventual enemy cavalry) and crossbowmen (To snipe villagers and hand canoneers) and attacked the Swedes first: Their units are stronger than the other civilizations, but they're also more expensive and train slower, which makes ...
